Report: Australian criminals “taking up arms at unprecedented rates”

Australia, the worlds poster child of gun control has a thriving firearms black market. This market has been gradually expanding since Australia’s 1996 firearms prohibition. As this situation worsens Australian law makers response is to propose more anti gun legislation! As more firearms are bought and sold on the black market, Australia leaves its law abiding citizens unable to protect themselves. The reality of firearm prohibitions is becoming more undeniable for those trying to use it for pro gun-control propaganda.

Some interesting highlights from the report:

A brazen new breed of criminals is taking up arms at unprecedented rates and they aren’t afraid to use them.

Shootings have become almost a weekly occurrence, with more than 125 people, mostly young men, wounded in the past five years.

There have been at least 99 shootings in the past 20 months – more than one incident a week since January 2015

Known criminals were caught with firearms 755 times last year, compared to 143 times in 2011

“Assault” rifles and handguns are being smuggled into Australia via shipments of electronics and metal parts

“There’s a lot of firearms in the illicit market that are floating around, so any of those weapons could end up in the hands of extremists, just as we’re seeing them in the hands of criminals, who are using them,” Assistant Commissioner Fontana says.
